Work Conditioning

After a successful physical therapy program, work conditioning may be indicated for the client that is deconditioned or experiencing energy loss with work related activities. Work conditioning is designed to help the injured worker improve their physical ability for a specific job or vocational goal. The patient is continually tested throughout the duration of the program to measure his/her physical ability to return to work and to a more productive lifestyle. The program may culminate with a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE). This information will be used by the referring physician and employer in evaluating when the client will be able to return to work. Work conditioning occurs three to five days per week, one to three hours per day for an average of four to eight weeks.

Sports and Spine Physical Therapy, Inc. also offers Unsupervised Reconditioning where the injured worker exercises unsupervised for up to six months. The exercise program is designed and updated by the clinician. During the Work conditioning programs, the patient’s personal physician will continue to manage their medical care.
